Deppe developed a business plan for UCI esports in 2015 and the college opened the first esports arena on a college campus in 2016. Now they are one of the most dominant programs in the nation. This interview with Deppe covers the origins of the UCI program, how collegiate esports has changed and what role college programs will play in the wider esports industry.
